GOAL

  4. Create marketing materials—including posters, social media graphics, and motion video—that effectively communicate the campaign's message and resonate with teens across Canada.

PROCESS

The process began with defining the Cannabis Awareness Campaign's identity, creating a serious and impactful tone focused on education, prevention, and teen well-being. A bold, clear visual style was developed to reflect the message of awareness and real-life consequences, supported by a strong color palette and direct typography. Marketing materials including posters, digital ads, and social media graphics—were designed with striking visuals and concise messaging to capture attention and communicate the risks of teen cannabis use. The centerpiece was a promotional motion video using powerful imagery and dynamic editing to emphasize the campaign's warning and educational purpose. All materials were refined through feedback to ensure a cohesive, effective campaign that clearly communicates the message across platforms.

PROBLEM

Creating a distinctive identity for the Cannabis Awareness Campaign meant developing visuals that communicated the message without relying on common or predictable imagery like joints or smoking scenes. Finding a concept that felt original, impactful, and respectful of the topic required careful decision-making and multiple design explorations. Another challenge was making all three posters feel cohesive as a unified campaign, especially while working with different faces and head shapes that affected layout, composition, and visual balance. Ensuring consistency in style, tone, and messaging across each piece pushed the design process to be both creative and intentional.

RESULT / CONCLUSION

The Cannabis Awareness Campaign successfully established a clear and impactful identity focused on educating teens about the risks of cannabis use. Bold visuals, a strong color palette, and direct typography created a modern and engaging presence. Posters, digital ads, and social media graphics effectively communicated the campaign's message, while the motion video emphasized consequences, prevention, and informed decision-making. The campaign was made more design-driven by incorporating storytelling elements—for example, the search bar was stylized as a joint, symbolizing curiosity while providing answers about how cannabis can harm teens. Together, these elements formed a cohesive campaign that resonates with youth and delivers a memorable, meaningful message about teen cannabis awareness.
